The actual platform CD3, derived from the Mazda6, and which is used in Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ, Ford Edge, Lincoln MKX and Mercury Milan has reached his end. It will be replaced by the platform used in the New Mondeo and will be used in the next Ford Fusion. This new platform will be called CD4 and the next Fusion( the 2013 model) will arrive in the U.S. in the 2012. They want to maximize engineering and manufacturing efficiency by creating several global platform models.
