Ford makes everything it can to stay alive and most importantly to stay ahead of its competition. The new prices announced for the 2010 Mustang comes as a confirmation of this. With a price starting at $20,995 for the V6-Engine powered  Ford makes it clear that their new pony will be cheaper than their competition`s cars.  For example the Hyundai Genesis Coupe costs around $22.000, Challenger SE $22,545  and the Camaro LS $22.995.

The more powerful version – the Mustang GT will start from $27,995 compared with the Challenger R/T which costs $30,545 and the Camaro SS at $30,995. The ultimate Mustang – the Shelby GT500 Coupe will cost around $46,325 again cheaper than its competition.

GM and Ford fires 50% of their employees

February 16th, 2009 Ford Reporter No comments

FordGm

The effects of the crisis starts to feel among the car companies. From 2002 to 2008 GM "lost" 93000 employees from 177000 they had in 2002. But they won`t stop here  – this year they want to fire another 13.400 in an attempt to save the company.

Ford and Chrysler don`t stand to well either. Only in US ford fired around 65.000 workers and Chrysler around 32.000. They say this won`t be the end. Until June, more workers could lose their jobs and that total of fired workers could reach 200.000 in just 2 years.

This is a really bad news.

Ford Taurus SHO returns

2010TaurusSHO10

Well, it`s true. Ford Taurus returns and now is sportier then ever. With this brand new sport car Ford introduces a new engine: 3.5 Liter EcoBoost V6 with just 365 horsepower.  With this new engine comes a six-speed automatic gearbox with paddles in combination with all-wheel drive system, and a lot of modifications on the interior and the exterior.

EcoBoost

The engine behind this beautiful sport car is a 3.5 Liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 Engine. This engine generates just 365 BHP at 5,500 rpms and 350ft-lbs of torque at 3,500 RPMs. This means that the engine delivers more power, more torque and consumes less fuel than a standard V8 aspirated Engine.

Since this engine has two turbocharges it avoids the "turbo lag" often seen in the turbocharged diesel engines. The engines delivers linear torque from 1500 RPM to 5500 RPM.

Paddles on drive-wheel

Since this is a sport car automatic gearbox and shift-paddles on the drive-wheel can`t miss from this car as the all-wheel drive system. The SelectShift  provides both automatic gearbox and manual gearbox control if the user desires. The incorporated all-wheel drive system automatically engages and puts all the torque to the wheels. Is its job to figure out which wheel need more torque and which one does not.

The Next Focus Coupe – a rival of VW Scirocco?

February 11th, 2009 Ford Reporter No comments

We have to admit it – VW Scirocco is a beautiful car which made a lot of heads turn around as it was driven down the road. Now most of the Car producers in the world will compare their coupes with Scirocco. Ford wants to do the same thing with their new Focus Coupe, and they surely want to win this competition.

In 2010 Ford want to launch Focus Coupe  with diesel and petrol engines with powers between 89 and 197 BPH. Of course there will be special versions of this coupe like RS and maybe ST with powers up to 300 BPH similar with the actual Focus RS.

Some rumors says that we`ll see two hatchbacks  – one in 5 doors for family type drivers and one in 3 doors for younger clients.

2010 Ford Ranger – Roll Stability Control and Safety Features

February 9th, 2009 Ford Reporter No comments

2010FordRanger01

After a few years from it`s debut on the Explorer Platform RSC ( Roll Stability Control) will finally appear in Ford Ranger. This is some very good news since this stability program makes almost impossible  rollovers. Of course this could not be the only safety features. They also added side airbags.

Ranger remains the most sold pick up from Ford and  with it`s smallest engine( 2.3 liter 4 cylinder) it`s also the most fuel-efficient pickup from USA with 21 mpg in the city and 26 on the highway.
